Antiquities, Islamic & Asian Art, and Fine Silver
Lot 218:
Description
The lid features an oval hand-painted enamel scene depicting a lively caravan of camels against the backdrop of an architectural masterpiece, possibly inspired by Isfahan’s grand mosques and Persian bazaars. This vibrant enamel panel is framed by intricate hand-engraved floral and arabesque patterns. The box is hallmarked and signed at the base. The interior is luxuriously gilded, protecting the silver from oxidation.
